Wema Sepetu and other celebrities who opened up about their struggles to conceive
By Valerian Khakayi, June 15, 2026Struggles with conception are often deeply personal and emotionally challenging experiences that many people go through in silence.
However, in recent years, several celebrities have chosen to speak openly about their fertility journeys, helping to break the stigma and encourage more honest conversations around reproductive health.
Among them is Tanzanian actress Wema Sepetu, alongside other public figures, who have shared their experiences of trying to conceive, offering a glimpse into the realities behind what is often seen as private pain.
Here are some of the celebrities who have opened up about their struggles to conceive.
Wema Sepetu
The actress who announced the birth of her first child on Saturday, June 13, 2026, had earlier opened up about her emotional journey, revealing that she has come to terms with the fact that she will never have a child.
Speaking during an interview with Sam Misago TV on January 19, 2025, the actress expressed that she has made peace with her situation, accepting it as part of God’s plan for her life.
“Sijabarikiwa kupata mtoto na kiukweli kwa wakati huu hata mkiniambia mnanitakia heri, nimeshafika 35. Sitegemee kwamba nitashika mimba. My road to wanting a baby, hata ile hamu, imefika point nimegive up,” she said.
Although she has accepted her reality, Wema admitted that it still pains her to know she may never have her own biological child.
“Of course, it hurts. It’s not that it doesn’t. Sometimes I wish I could have my own baby, someone I could carry, love, and treat nicely beyond the normal way,” Wema stated.
“I tried for so long, but God decided I didn’t deserve it. You cannot go against God’s will. Nothing happens by accident in this world. You never know why God didn’t give me my own child.”

Tina Clara
The Kenyan actress Tina Clara also shared an emotional message reflecting on infertility struggles following Wema Sepetu’s childbirth announcement.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, June 13, 2026, Tina Clara said she believes Wema Sepetu’s long-awaited moment of motherhood is a sign of hope for women who are still waiting for their own breakthrough.
She noted that she trusts her own time will also come when she is fully ready to be called a mother.
“Mungu akinijalia na mimi nitawahadithia, vile someone I thought was my closest friend bonded with my ex-boyfriend over my inability to have a baby with him, hio time” she wrote.
“Nina Imani pia mimi siku yangu itafika na inipate nikiwa tayari kuitwa mama, ila kwa sasa, nawaombeeni mema wanawake wote wenye wako kwa hii journey ya kungojea.”
