We fell in love twice: Nurse Judy reveals how she got back with her ex after 3 years apart

Nurse and content creator Nurse Judy has opened up about rekindling her relationship with her former partner after spending years apart and dating other people.

In an Instagram post on Sunday, August 2026, Judy revealed that she and her partner first started dating when she was 17 while he was 22. The couple spent their first seven to eight years together, during which they grew up, built a life and became parents.

However, their relationship began experiencing difficulties in 2020, with Judy saying they gradually became emotionally distant.

By 2021, the situation had deteriorated and the couple separated.

Life after breakup

Judy stated she left for the United States in 2022 and began dating other people as both moved on with their separate lives.

In 2023, they attempted to rekindle their relationship, but the reunion lasted only about two to three months before they separated again.

Looking back, Judy said they were not ready to rebuild the relationship because they were still carrying hurt, resentment and unresolved issues from their past.

“Love was still there, but love alone wasn’t enough to fix what we hadn’t healed,” she said.

The couple went their separate ways again and continued with their individual lives, including dating other people.

Finding love again

Their story took another turn in 2024 when they found their way back to each other.

Judy said the reunion was different because neither of them returned as the same people who had separated years earlier.

She said they came back with healed hearts, forgiveness, accountability, emotional maturity and a better understanding of what it meant to choose each other.

“And when I tell you love has NEVER felt this deep, this peaceful, this safe and this sweet,” she said.

Judy described the experience as falling in love with the same person twice, but this time with healed versions of each other.

She said their time apart allowed them to understand themselves and each other better, making their reunion more meaningful.

A second chance

Judy admitted that there were moments when she wondered how they had almost lost their relationship.

She also reflected that their separation may have been necessary for both of them to become people capable of loving each other differently.

“Sometimes I look at him and think, How did we almost lose this?” she said.

Judy, however, joked that she would not necessarily advise everyone to break up and date other people as a way of fixing their relationships.

The couple’s journey, she suggested, was shaped by their own circumstances and the personal growth they experienced while apart.
