WaJesus family speaks on marriage, addresses rising cases of separation and divorce

In a message shared on their Instagram Stories on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, the couple reflected on the realities of marriage, noting that staying together requires effort from both partners.
The Wajesus family said marriage should not be viewed as something that works automatically simply because two people are together.
Wajesus family on commitment in marriage
The couple acknowledged that marriage can be difficult but said commitment from both partners can help couples work through challenges. “Marriage sio rahisi. It’s not easy, but the solution is commitment by both of the people,” they said.
They added that they believe a marriage can work when both partners are willing to put in the effort rather than leaving the responsibility to one person. “I do believe when two people are committed, the marriage works. It’s a lot of work,” they stated.
Their comments come at a time when several high-profile relationships in Kenya have ended, with some couples choosing to make their decisions public while others have kept their struggles private.
‘People assume everything is okay’
The Wajesus family also addressed how people often judge marriages based on what they see from the outside. They pointed out that couples may appear happy in public while dealing with difficulties away from social media and the public eye.
“People assume that just because people are together, everything is okay between them. And then when we see people separating in public, we get shocked,” they said.
According to the couple, separation among couples may be more common than people realise because some choose to deal with it privately. “The separation between couples is high. It’s just that people are doing separation in private, especially the people we know,” they added.
Celebrity separations in the spotlight
The Wajesus family’s comments come at a time when several Kenyan celebrities have publicly addressed changes in their relationships, bringing conversations about separation and marriage into the spotlight.
Among them are comedian and content creator Njugush and his wife Celestine Ndinda, popularly known as Wakavinye, who have recently been the subject of separation reports. Singer Nadia Mukami and fellow artiste Arrow Bwoy have also spoken publicly about the end of their relationship.
Media personality Willis Raburu has also had his relationships become part of public discussion, while content creator Nicholas Kioko and his partner Wambo Ashley have recently confirmed their separation after being together for several years.
While some of these relationships have played out differently, the Wajesus family pointed out that what the public sees does not always reflect what happens within a marriage. Some couples choose to address their difficulties openly, while others deal with them away from the public eye.
Wajesus family urges couples to pray
The Wajesus family said couples should not assume that they are immune to challenges simply because they have been together for years. They encouraged partners to be intentional about their relationships and to make room for communication, commitment and prayer.
“I rebuke that in Jesus’ name. It’s not that we are immune to that. We should just be intentional with our spouse and put our marriage into prayer,” they said.
