Vindee appeals to CAF to let him stream AFCON like IShowSpeed did at the World Cup
By William Muthama, July 31, 2026Content creator and streamer Vindee has appealed to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to allow him to stream the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), saying he wants a similar opportunity to the one IShowSpeed received during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking during a livestream from Germany on Friday, July 31, 2026, Vindee urged CAF and FKF to allow him to create livestreams and behind-the-scenes content around the tournament, which will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
According to the streamer, he believes he is best placed to become the first major East African streamer to officially cover AFCON in that capacity.
IShowSpeed inspiration
During the livestream, Vindee referenced IShowSpeed’s involvement during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the American streamer was given official access by FIFA to create livestreams and behind-the-scenes content around the tournament.
He said he hopes CAF and FKF can offer him a similar opportunity during AFCON 2027.
“Speed alipewa opportunity na FIFA aka-stream World Cup. Hata kama hakuonyesha game, alikuwa anaji-stream,” Vindee said.
He clarified that he is not asking to broadcast the football matches themselves, but rather to livestream his experience, interact with fans and create content around the tournament.
Appeal to CAF, FKF
Vindee said AFCON 2027 presents a unique opportunity to showcase East African content creators on the continental stage, considering the tournament will be hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
“CAF na FKF nawaomba mnipe kazi. Nikuwe the first streamer from East Africa ku-stream AFCON. Si AFCON inakuja Kenya, Uganda na Tanzania,” he said.
The content creator went on to describe himself as East Africa’s leading streamer, expressing confidence that he could help promote the tournament to audiences across Africa and beyond.
“Who is the first, who is the number one streamer in East Africa? Si ni mimi. Everything is possible. I believe nothing is impossible,” he added.
The 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania from June 19 to July 17, 2027, marking the first time the three East African nations will stage Africa’s biggest football tournament together.
