Trevor Ombija sends fresh appeal to Nyakach voters as he intensifies his 2027 MP bid

Journalist Trevor Ombija has made a fresh appeal to residents of Nyakach Constituency as he continues positioning himself for the parliamentary seat ahead of the 2027 General Election.

In a TikTok post on Sunday, September 20, 2026, Ombija reaffirmed his intention to pursue the Nyakach parliamentary seat while urging residents to remain with him as he continues his political journey.

The journalist accompanied his message with campaign graphics carrying his name and Nyakach MP 2027 branding, while also declaring that he would cast his own vote for himself in the coming election.

“Hii kura yangu moja nitapigia Trevor Ombija Nyakwar Guok Ocha Pesa. Vote Dongruok Maonge Dond Ruok. MP Nyakach 2027,” the message on his post read.

Ombija then directly addressed the people of Nyakach, describing his journey to Parliament as one that he intends to pursue despite the challenges ahead.

“To the great people of Nyakach Constituency, the journey to Parliament is unstoppable. The road may be hilly, the climb may be challenging, but with courage, faith, resilience, and your unwavering support, we shall get there,” he wrote.

The latest message adds another layer to Ombija’s increasingly visible political activities as he transitions from his established career in journalism into active electoral politics.

His appeal comes only days after he met President William Ruto in an indoor engagement where he said the two discussed his vision and development priorities for Nyakach Constituency.

On Tuesday, September 15, Ombija shared details of the meeting on social media, describing it as an opportunity to present his ideas for the constituency directly to the Head of State.

“Honoured to have had an indoor meeting with William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya, to share my vision and development priorities for Nyakach Constituency,” Ombija stated.

The meeting came shortly after the journalist publicly aligned himself with Ruto’s Tutam political movement as the President began his development tour of the Nyanza region.

In a TikTok post shared on Sunday, September 13, Ombija welcomed Ruto to Nyanza and expressed his support for the political movement, publicly declaring his backing for the President’s re-election bid.

“President Ruto’s Nyanza tour. President Ruto karibu Nyanza, tunakupenda. TUTAM siku zote. Jeshi ya rais,” the poster shared by Ombija read.

The journalist has also previously linked his support for Ruto to development projects in the region, particularly infrastructure that he says has affected residents in his home area.

During a recent public engagement, Ombija spoke about a major highway, saying residents had endured difficulties on the road for decades before construction work began under the current administration.

“For 60 years, no one constructed this highway. It is President Ruto who is doing it now,” he said.

Ombija also recalled a particularly difficult experience on the road, saying he once spent the Christmas holiday sleeping there after heavy traffic brought movement to a standstill.

“I remember sleeping on that road during the Christmas holiday because of heavy traffic,” he said.

He contrasted that experience with the ongoing construction, pointing to the work as the reason for his support for Ruto’s continued leadership.

“But now it’s under construction,” Ombija added.

The journalist subsequently made a direct appeal for Ruto to be given another term, saying he believed the President should be allowed to continue with his administration’s agenda.

“Let’s give Ruto another term, please,” Ombija said.
