Shirtless supporter with Babu Owino’s tattoo thrills Embakasi East MP

The MP shared a photo of the tattoo on his official Instagram account on Sunday, September 13, 2026, appearing amused by the unusual gesture from the supporter. The tattoo features Babu’s face alongside the words “Babu kwa sababu”, a slogan associated with his political ambitions ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Reacting to the image, Babu expressed surprise at the decision to permanently have his face inked on the supporter’s back. “Hii ni tattoo boys amechora? Aah, Nairobi, mtakuja kuniua na mapenzi,” Babu said.
Babu reacts to unusual show of support
The tattoo has drawn attention online because of the personal nature of the gesture.
While political supporters often use posters, T-shirts, campaign songs and social media posts to show their loyalty to their preferred leaders, the supporter chose to go a step further by having Babu’s image permanently tattooed on his body.
Babu’s reaction suggested that he took the gesture positively, responding with humour rather than making a lengthy political statement.
The moment also comes at a time when the MP has been increasingly visible in political activities around Nairobi as the country moves closer to the 2027 General Election.
Babu joins Linda Mwananchi Nairobi tour
Babu’s reaction came a day after the Linda Mwananchi movement held its Nairobi mobilisation tour on Saturday, September 12.
The convoy moved through several parts of the capital, passing through Marikiti, Gikomba, Burma Market, Jogoo Road, Manyanja Road, B Centre and Stage 17 before supporters gathered at Jacaranda Grounds.
The day began with a church service at All Saints Cathedral before the procession moved through the city.
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza and other leaders were among those who joined the tour as the movement continued its mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
Police deployed along Nairobi routes
The mobilisation also came amid heightened security around political activities in parts of Nairobi. Police officers were deployed along the routes to manage crowds and traffic as the convoy moved through different parts of the city.
Nairobi Regional Police Commander Issa Mohamud had earlier warned against large political gatherings in the Central Business District, citing security concerns and intelligence reports of possible confrontations between rival groups.
Mohamud said police would protect lawful political activities at Jacaranda Grounds while urging political leaders and their supporters to maintain peace. “No political objective is worth the blood of a Kenyan,” he said.

The tattoo has since become another talking point around Babu’s growing political presence in Nairobi. For the supporter who chose to have the MP’s face permanently inked on his back, it was a personal way of showing loyalty.
For Babu, however, the moment provided an opportunity to respond to the gesture with a light-hearted message, telling Nairobi residents that their show of affection could leave him overwhelmed.
