Shieri Kimani sparks debate on how parents should handle school bullying

In a post shared today, September 12, 2026, Shieri Kimani posed a series of questions to parents, asking whether they would encourage their children to fight back or teach them to avoid responding with violence.
“A question to every parent out there,” Shierikimani began, before presenting a scenario where a child tells their parent, “I’m getting bullied by a certain boy or a certain girl.”
The content creator then asked parents what advice they would give their children if such an incident happened.
“Do you advise them to fight back if it ever happens? Or do you advise them to turn the other cheek?” she asked.
She also questioned whether parents would personally intervene by confronting the family involved.
“Or do you go and deal with the parents? Or do you just go and deal with the parent and the child together?” she asked, before adding, “That’s for the crazy people.”
Teaching children not to become bullies
Beyond how parents respond when their own children are bullied, Shierikimani also challenged them to consider whether they teach their children not to bully others.
“Do you also teach your children to not bully other kids?” she asked.
She specifically raised the importance of teaching children not to make fun of others because of their differences, asking parents whether they have conversations with their children about respecting those who are differently abled.
“Do you talk to them about not being bullies, not making fun of children who are abled differently? Is that a conversation that you have with your children?” she posed.
A warning about consequences
Shierikimani further urged parents to have these conversations early, warning that children who are not taught about kindness and respect may eventually face consequences for their behaviour.
“If you don’t do it right now, they’ll come out to the world, and the world will deal with them. It won’t be nice,” she said.
She concluded by inviting parents to share how they handle bullying situations involving their children, opening up a wider discussion on whether parents should encourage children to defend themselves, intervene directly or focus on teaching them peaceful ways of handling conflict.
