Ruto delivers brand-new Toyota Prado to Luo Council of Elders chairman
By Paulette Mboga, September 19, 2026President William Ruto has delivered a brand-new Toyota Prado to Luo Council of Elders chairman Mzee Odungi Randa, days after the elder asked him for a vehicle to support his movements across the region.
Public Service Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo delivered the vehicle after a meeting between the President and the Luo Council of Elders at State Lodge in Homa Bay. Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwour, popularly known as Jalang’o, said Randa made the request towards the end of the meeting.
Jalang’o explained that Omollo had asked him to join the meeting after the last rally in Migori, where the PS had organised an engagement between the elders and Ruto.
“After the last rally in Migori, Dr Raymond Omollo, PS, asked me to join him at the state lodge in Homa Bay where he had organised a meeting for Luo council of Elders with H.E. The President,” Jalang’o said on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

He said the request was made at the tail end of the meeting when Randa asked Ruto to help him get a car that would make his movements easier. Jalang’o said he initially thought the request was unexpected, but Ruto responded by making a promise.
“At the tail end of the meeting, Ker Odungi Rada made a request to the president to kindly get him a car to help him in his movement, a request I thought was a bit wild,” Jalang’o said.
Ruto fulfils promise to Randa
Jalang’o said Ruto told Randa that he would get the vehicle on Friday. He added that the promise was fulfilled when Omollo’s team delivered the new vehicle.
“In a calm voice, the president told him that he would get a car on Friday! Just like that this morning, PS Omollo’s team have delivered the car, a brand-new Toyota Prado,” Jalang’o said.
The delivery came shortly after Ruto hosted the Luo Council of Elders at State Lodge in Homa Bay on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, during his tour of the Nyanza region.

The council, led by Randa, met Ruto as he continued engagements with political, community and cultural leaders across Luo Nyanza. During the meeting, the President spoke about the role of elders and cultural leaders in society.
“Elders and cultural leaders play a critical role in society by promoting values and traditions that shape our society,” Ruto said.
Ruto also said his administration recognises the contribution of elders and cultural leaders in preserving traditions, promoting social values and providing guidance within communities.
Jalang’o said the new vehicle would now make it easier for Randa to move across the four counties. He said the Toyota Prado would support the chairman in his movements after the request made during the meeting.
