Risper Faith opens up about feeling isolated while awaiting childbirth in the US

Socialite Risper Faith has opened up about the emotional and practical challenges of living in the United States as she awaits the birth of her second child, saying the experience has left her feeling isolated and bored.

In a video shared on her Instagram on Monday, June 29, 2026, the expectant mother cautioned Kenyans against assuming life abroad is easy, especially for heavily pregnant women caring for young children.

Life abroad challenges

Risper said many people encourage pregnant women to travel to the US, promising they will receive help, but the reality can be very different once they arrive.

She explained that most of the people expected to offer support are often away at work, leaving her to spend long hours indoors with little to do.

“Kitu isikudanganye, ukuje America na mimba kubwa kama yangu na mtoto mwengine. Wale walikuwa wakisema watakusaidia sasa wako kazi. Bwana lazima aende kazi, boyfriend lazima aende kazi,” she said.

The socialite added that because she does not have a driver’s licence, she cannot drive herself around, making it even harder to leave the house or attend appointments on her own.

Risper admitted that staying indoors for extended periods had become frustrating.

“I’m not complaining, I’m just giving you a disclaimer,” she said, adding that the boredom had pushed her to ask fans to keep sending her work to stay occupied.

Missing home comforts

The mother of one also revealed that she misses the convenience of having domestic help back in Kenya.

Laughing, she recalled frequently calling her househelp, Ruth, whenever she needed assistance, saying she now has to do everything herself.

“I miss our maid Ruth. Sasa hivi ni mimi tu peke yangu,” she said.

Risper also appealed to Kenyan business owners to continue working with her, encouraging clothing brands and other businesses to send products to the US for promotion while she waits to give birth.

Costly childcare

The socialite further highlighted the high cost of hiring domestic help in the United States, saying it is far more expensive than many people imagine.

According to Risper, hiring someone to help with children can cost about 50 US dollars (approximately Ksh5,600) per hour, making it difficult to afford regular assistance.

She questioned how families could comfortably pay such rates every day, noting that childcare costs quickly add up over several hours.
