Prince Indah praises Ida’s work
Prince Indah used the birthday message to highlight Ida’s influence on young women and girls, particularly through her long involvement in advocacy and mentorship.
He said her journey had shown women and girls that they could overcome barriers and take up space in areas where women had traditionally faced challenges.
“To the girl child across Kenya and beyond, you are far more than a role model; you are proof of what happens when strength meets purpose,” he said.

The singer also praised Ida for creating opportunities for women and encouraging them to believe in their abilities. He noted that her work had helped demonstrate the importance of women having a voice in society and leadership.
A career beyond being Raila’s wife
Ida Odinga, born Ida Anyango Oyoo on August 24, 1950, is a Kenyan educationist, businesswoman and women’s rights advocate. She worked as a teacher for more than two decades and later became one of the first Kenyan women to head a major company.

She is also known for founding the League of Kenya Women Voters in 1991, an organisation that promoted women’s participation in politics and leadership. Her advocacy has extended to issues affecting women, children and health.
Her public work has therefore remained an important part of her identity, separate from her long marriage to the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
