Pastor Kanyari claims he is struggling to find happiness in his Ksh90M Runda home

Salvation Healing Ministry founder Pastor Victor Kanyari has opened up about his life between his luxurious Runda mansion and his humble home in Chokaa, revealing that despite owning a multimillion-shilling property, he still finds greater peace and happiness in his modest residence.

Speaking on Sunday, June 7, 2026, Kanyari reflected on his lifestyle, revealing that he owns a Ksh90 million mansion in Runda, which he described as large and well-furnished, but said it does not give him the sense of comfort he experiences in Chokaa.

He said the Runda home is a multi-storey property with high-end amenities, including a swimming pool, and noted that his bedroom is located on one of the upper floors, describing it as extremely spacious.

“And I have a house in Runda, a very big place, by the way, with a swimming pool where you can swim and relax. The house has many floors, and my bedroom is up there, almost on the sixth floor. The bedroom is even the size of this church of mine here. The bed is very big, like King Pharaoh’s bed; you can roll on that bed several times without falling. But there is no happiness over there,” he said.

Kanyari said that despite the luxury surrounding the Runda property, he does not feel emotionally settled there, adding that happiness for him is not tied to wealth or property size.

He noted that even though the mansion is impressive, he often finds himself unable to sleep there comfortably and prefers returning to Chokaa.

According to him, the environment in Chokaa gives him a sense of belonging and peace that the Runda home does not provide.

“Happiness for me is here in Chokaa, where I live and preach. Even if I go to Runda, I cannot sleep there; I have to come back here to Chokaa. And yet that house I bought for Ksh90 million”, he shared.

The pastor further compared his two residences, saying his Chokaa home, which he valued at about Ksh1.5 million, may not be as fancy as the Runda mansion, but it offers him comfort and emotional rest.

He explained that, unlike Runda, where security protocols and formal procedures are strict, Chokaa offers a more relaxed and familiar environment where he interacts freely with people he considers his own.

“The house I have here in Chokaa is not that expensive; it is about Ksh1.5 million. It is not fancy, but I love it and it is where I feel my happiness and my rest. Because my people are also here. My people call me good names, and I feel at home. The place has a vibe; they call me Honourable,” he said.

The pastor added that the sense of community in Chokaa is what keeps him grounded, saying he feels more at home among people who know him personally and engage with him daily.

He emphasised that the environment, interactions and simplicity of life in Chokaa contribute more to his peace of mind than material luxury.

“The difference is that in Runda there are strict security procedures; they have to check and ask questions when you are going in and out,” he said.
