Pastor Faustin Munishi reveals he is now using AI to produce music days after criticising it

Veteran gospel singer and preacher Pastor Faustin Munishi has made a surprising U-turn on artificial intelligence (AI), revealing that he is now using the technology to improve gospel music just days after publicly criticising the use of AI to recreate his iconic hit Malebo.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, June 28, 2026, the ‘Parapanda Italia’ hitmaker explained that he had reached an agreement with an AI expert to work together in helping gospel musicians enhance poorly recorded songs.

According to Munishi, the partnership has already started bearing fruit.

Munishi went on to reveal that the collaboration earned the young AI specialist Ksh6,000 in a single day after they received a request from a pastor in Eldoret seeking help to improve the quality of his songs.

The preacher explained that the pastor initially contacted him looking for the AI expert’s phone number.

Instead, Munishi assured him that the expert was already with him and asked him to send the songs via WhatsApp.

Nikamwambia atume nyimbo zake ambazo zimerekodiwa vibaya kwenye WhatsApp yangu nami nitampa mtaalam wa AI afanye ile kitu,” he explained.

The pastor sent three songs, with each being enhanced using AI at a cost of Ksh2,000, bringing the total earnings to Ksh6,000.

According to Munishi, the improved songs were delivered within two hours, leaving the pastor impressed with the results.

He added that the AI expert was equally excited, saying he was relieved to be using the technology openly rather than secretly.

Munishi argued that working transparently benefits everyone, unlike creating AI versions of songs without permission.

He warned that those who secretly recreate music using AI risk having others distribute the content online and profit from it while both the creator and the original owner receive nothing.

Kijana naye alifurahi sana akasema afadhali kufanya kazi ya AI bila kujificha,” he wrote.

The veteran singer further declared that the AI version of Malebo had finally “returned to its rightful owner,” saying he now intended to distribute it himself and earn revenue from the viral version.

He also appealed to whoever uploaded the AI-generated audio to major online platforms such as Amazon, to remove it so that he could officially distribute the song and benefit financially.

Kazi kubwa sasa ni kutafuta yule msambazaji anaesambaza audio hii ya AI kwenye stores kubwa online kama Amazon na kwingine aishushe ili niweze kuisambaza mimi na pesa yake… nilipwe mimi,” he said.

In a light-hearted moment, Munishi joked about what he might buy once he begins earning from the AI version of the song, saying he could purchase anything from a house to a hearty meal of chicken, chips, soda and bread.

Change of tune

The latest remarks mark a significant shift from the preacher’s earlier stance on AI.

Only days ago, Munishi had criticised young creators for using artificial intelligence to recreate Malebo without his permission, insisting that his original songs should remain untouched unless he personally chose to use the technology.

At the time, the veteran singer revealed that he had never asked people to promote his old songs using modern reinterpretations, insisting that his original works should remain as they are.

Mimi sijawaomba mpeleke nyimbo zangi AI, kama nitatumia AI nitaweka kwenye nyimbo zangu mpya lakini zile za zamani ambazo nilitumia OI, yani original intelligence, wacheni zikae hivyo hivyo,” he said.
