Otile Brown hits back over Femi One’s take on his mental health journey

By , June 14, 2026

Singer Otile Brown has responded to rapper Femi One after she appeared to dismiss his recent remarks about battling personal struggles and mental health challenges during a difficult period in his career.

The exchange began after Otile opened up about a challenging chapter in his life, revealing that he had been “fighting demons” behind the scenes and undergoing a period of personal transformation.

The singer described the experience as a rebirth, saying the pressures that come with fame and a successful music career had taken a toll on him and nearly pushed him to leave the industry.

Femi One questions the narrative

However, Femi One seemed unimpressed by the explanation. Talking to X, the rapper suggested that artistes often blame personal struggles when they fail to release songs that resonate widely with audiences.

“Wasanii wakikosa trendy song wanasema they were fighting demons 😂 its part of the process, guys!! Kuna kupanda na kushuka, there’s so much more that makes a brand other than making a trendy song. Maybe start focusing on those other aspects, ndio ukikosa trendy, usifeel ni kama you are lagging behind,” she wrote.

Otile fires back

Otile did not take long to respond. Commenting on an Instagram blog on Sunday, June 14, 2026 the “Crush” hitmaker rejected the idea that his comments were linked to chasing chart success or viral moments. Instead, he argued that his music has always been about longevity rather than trends.

“We don’t do trendy music, we do classics,” Otile wrote.

The singer went on to challenge Femi One to focus on creating timeless records, saying that lasting impact in the industry matters more than short-lived popularity.

According to him, the strength of his catalogue continues to keep him relevant and booked for performances even when he does not have a current hit dominating the charts.

“Try making timeless records and maybe you’ll understand why we stay booked even when we don’t have a hit out,” he added.
