Nana Owiti reveals how she taught her daughter to stand up to bullies
Digital influencer Nana Owiti has shared a personal story about how she handled a bullying situation involving her daughter.
On Monday, June 22, 2026, she explained that her daughter once faced repeated bullying at kindergarten, which led to emotional distress. According to her, the experience pushed her to take action at home.
Nana Owiti said she noticed her daughter coming home crying almost every day. She explained that the situation continued for a while and became very painful to watch. She added that it affected her deeply as a parent.
“There was a time my daughter would come home from kindergarten crying almost every day because she was being bullied by her classmates. Watching that day after day broke me,” Nana Owiti said.

She explained that she decided to teach her daughter how to respond to bullying in a controlled and responsible way. Nana Owiti said she used a simple approach that involved guidance and practice at home. She added that she wanted her child to learn both courage and discipline.
“One afternoon, I took a pillow, held her hand and went outside. I taught her how to defend herself. I told her, ‘Never throw the first punch, but if someone forces a fight on you, make sure you’re the one who ends it,’” Nana Owiti said.
Teaching courage and balance
Nana Owiti explained that she also focused on teaching her daughter emotional strength. She said she wanted her child to understand that she would not always be present to solve her problems. She added that building courage was important for her growth.

“I also told her something even more important: ‘I won’t always be there to fight your battles. One day, you’ll have to find the courage to stand up for yourself,” Nana Owiti said.
She stated that after this moment, the emotional stress her daughter experienced had reduced. Nana Owiti said the change was noticeable in her child’s behaviour and confidence. She added that the tears stopped after that experience.
“The tears stopped after that-I promise,” Nana Owiti said.
Nana Owiti further explained that her children are raised with discipline and respect. She said these are values she emphasises at home and not just rules, and added that discipline should not be misunderstood as weakness.
