My beloved queen: Waihiga Mwaura showers Joyce Omondi with love

Journalist Waihiga Mwaura has showered his wife, gospel singer and former TV host Joyce Omondi, with love as she marks another year, celebrating her as an incredible person and wishing her a year filled with happiness.
Taking to social media on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, Waihiga described Joyce as his “beloved queen” while expressing gratitude for another opportunity to celebrate her life.
“My beloved queen @joyceomondi, I am so grateful for another chance to celebrate the incredible person that you are as you mark a new year. You truly deserve all the happiness in the world today and always. Wishing you a fantastic ‘only God’ year ahead!” he wrote.
The heartfelt message comes as the couple continues to share glimpses of their life together, nearly 11 years after they walked down the aisle.
How Waihiga met Joyce
Waihiga previously opened up about the moment he first noticed Joyce, recalling a Sunday morning when he tuned in to Rauka and saw her presenting the gospel show.
He described the moment as surreal and revealed that Joyce’s natural presentation style immediately caught his attention.
“This is such a surreal moment. This show holds a very special place in my heart. Many years ago, on a Sunday like this, I woke up, put on the programme, and there was a new presenter on set, and I ended up watching the programme a bit longer than I was intending to watch. I actually got late for church,” Waihiga recalled.
He said Joyce’s composure on television impressed him, prompting him to comment about her on social media.
“I thought the presenter was very natural in the way she composed herself and carried the programme, so I went to social media and commented the same and the rest, as they say, is history,” he added.
Their wedding
Waihiga and Joyce later turned their friendship and relationship into marriage, walking down the aisle in December 2015.
The couple celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary in December 2023 while on vacation in Asia, with Joyce sharing a romantic moment from their trip and writing, “Happy Anniversary, my love.”
Over the years, the couple has continued to mark important milestones together while keeping much of their private life away from the spotlight.
Welcomed first child
In December 2025, Waihiga and Joyce revealed another major milestone when they announced that they had quietly welcomed their first child, a son.
The couple made the announcement on the eve of Christmas, revealing that their son had been born the previous year.
They shared a photo of Waihiga carrying their son and reflected on the joy the new addition had brought to their family.
“Last year, the Lord blessed our family with the most precious gift. Every day since has been a testament to God’s goodness and faithfulness. We’ve cherished this beautiful new season of our lives, quietly soaking in every moment. Our hearts are so full and we’re grateful to share the joy that’s been blooming in our home. The revelation marked a new chapter for the couple, who have continued to balance their careers in media and entertainment with their family life.
Waihiga’s latest birthday tribute to Joyce now adds another affectionate moment to their journey together, with the journalist celebrating his wife and wishing her a year guided by her “only God” spirit.
