Murugi Munyi explains she is jealous of white people and Indians
By Paulette Mboga, June 10, 2026Content creator Murugi Munyi has explained why she sometimes feels jealous of white people and Indians, saying it is linked to how easy she believes it is for them to leave their hair open every day.
Speaking about the topic, Murugi said she had recently discussed it with Nanji and shared her thoughts on hair management and the effort she feels goes into maintaining natural hair.
“Something I was talking with Nanji about yesterday that is random, but here it is. Sometimes I am jealous of white people and Indians because the fact that they just exsost with their hair open like 24/7 is fantastic,” Murugi said.

She explained that while everyone has the option of wearing their hair open, she feels the experience is different depending on hair type and the amount of work required to maintain it.
Murugi said she often wonders whether her thoughts are influenced by conditioning or by the realities of caring for natural hair. She noted that managing natural hair can require more effort, time, resources and products.
“I know we also have the option of doing that, but do we have the time?” Murugi said.
Hair care challenges
The content creator went on to explain that maintaining natural hair, especially 4c hair, can be demanding. She said this has shaped the way she views hairstyles and daily hair management.
Murugi explained that she sometimes questions whether it is simply a mindset issue or whether the process genuinely requires more commitment compared to other hair textures.

“I feel like it’s conditioning in my mind for me to believe that it does take more energy, more effort, more time, more resources, more products for you to manage your hair,” she said.
She said her thoughts are particularly focused on people with natural hair, noting that different hair types may require different levels of care and attention.
Murugi also reflected on how she believes her approach to styling her hair could be different if her hair texture were not the same.
“Like your natural hair, especially if you have proper 4c hair, because if I had like long, soft hair, I feel like I would keep my hair open 24/7,” Murugi explained.
