Content creator Mummie Francie has advised Kenyans to support mothers who have just given birth by sending them money instead of arriving with baby items after delivery.

On Monday, June 15, 2026, she said many people wait until a child is born before bringing gifts, yet those items would be more useful during pregnancy.

“Ebu mjifunze kupatia wamama walio jifungua mpesa. Jifunzeni kutumia wamama waliojifungua mpesa,” Mummie Francie said.

She explained that people often visit new mothers carrying different baby items, including feeding bottles and basins. According to her, such gifts should be given much earlier, when a woman first announces that she is expecting a child.

“Habari ya kukuja kumuona mama aliyejifungua na makolokolo mengi ohh sijui chupa ya mtoto , sijui basin, ah ah ah,” Mummie Francie said.

The content creator noted that pregnancy is the period when many of the baby essentials are needed most. She encouraged people to move beyond verbal congratulations and instead provide practical support that can help an expectant mother prepare for the arrival of her child.

Support during pregnancy

“Hiyo maplastiki na makolo kolo yako ilikua ni kitu ukilete kipindi mama amekuambia ni mjamzito,” Mummie Francie said.

She further stated that friends and relatives should not wait until after delivery to purchase items such as pacifiers, clothes, and feeding bottles. She explained that these products can be bought during pregnancy without needing to know whether the baby is a boy or a girl.

“Akikuambia yuko na mimba, congratulations ya midomo mitupu no. Hapo ndio unaleta pacifier, chupa, nguo na makolo kolo yako yote,” Mummie Francie said.

She also advised people to choose unisex baby items instead of delaying support while waiting to learn the baby’s gender. According to her, this removes unnecessary excuses and allows expectant mothers to receive help much earlier.

“Unisex, haina haja uulize mtoto ni…nyinyi wa kuuliza mtoto ni mvulana au msichana , koma wewe. Peleka vitu unisex,” Mummie Francie said.

Mummie Francie concluded by urging people to consider sending money to mothers after they have given birth. She maintained that financial support can be more helpful at that stage than gathering in large numbers at the hospital.

“Akijifungua, tuma mpesa, huwa mnaenda kujazana hospitali,” Mummie Francie said.
