Morara Kebaso’s wife reveals she walked away from marriage 6 months ago
By William Muthama, September 4, 2026Morara Kebaso’s wife, Mercy Makini, has broken her silence on the state of their marriage, revealing that she walked away from the relationship six months ago.
Mercy spoke out on Friday, September 4, 2026, on Facebook after Morara addressed the growing public discussion surrounding his family and asked Kenyans to respect their privacy.
In her response, Mercy said she had chosen to walk away from the marriage privately and had kept the matter away from the public for about six months.
She accused Morara of presenting himself as a victim while, according to her account, failing to acknowledge issues that had taken place privately.
“For the past six months, I have chosen to be the bigger person and keep this matter private out of respect for everyone involved. However, since you have decided to bring it to social media and put it in my face, then let’s address it openly,” she said.
Mercy questions Morara’s involvement in children’s lives
Mercy also questioned Morara’s involvement in the lives of their children, challenging his decision to mention them in his public statement.
She posed a pointed question to Morara, asking:
“Where do you get the moral authority to mention kids that you have no idea what they’ve been eating for the last 6 months?”
Her remarks appeared to question Morara’s knowledge of and involvement in the children’s day-to-day welfare during the period she said she had walked away from the marriage.
Morara had identified Mercy as the mother of their three children, Zainah Morara, Garang Morara and MK Junior, and asked the public to continue giving her respect and honour.
Morara addresses family speculation
Morara said he had initially preferred not to discuss his family on social media.
However, he argued that remaining silent could allow people to fill the gap with what he described as false information.
He said being a public figure meant his private life was often subjected to public scrutiny.
“Every home and family has its own way of doing things. Your values are not our values. Your choices are not our choices,” he said.
Morara also asked the public not to put him in a position where he would have to repeatedly return to social media to correct what he considers misinformation about his family.
