Mercy Maina: Mother of woman found decomposed in Lavington apartment makes emotional financial appeal

Speaking in a video shared by MC Chris Kirubi Junior on Sunday, September 13, 2026, Grace introduced herself as Mercy’s mother and opened up about the devastating loss of her daughter.
Nderitu said she comes from Othaya and described Mercy as a deeply important member of her family who played a significant role in supporting her.
“Hello Kenyans. I am Grace Nyambura Nderitu from Othaya, and I am the mum of Mercy Wachira Maina, the young girl who was found dead in Lavington,” she said.
The grieving mother revealed that Mercy was her second-born daughter and said she had been helping her in many ways, making her death particularly painful.
She appealed to Kenyans to support her with whatever they could as she works towards fulfilling what she described as her daughter’s wishes.
“Mercy was helping me a lot and she was so important to me. She was the second-born,” she added.
Nderitu urged well-wishers to come to her aid, saying any form of assistance would help her meet the needs left behind by Mercy’s death.
She concluded her emotional appeal by asking God to bless everyone who would stand with her during the difficult period.

Sharing the video, MC Chris Kirubi Junior reminded his followers of the circumstances surrounding Mercy’s death and urged them to extend their support to her grieving mother.
Kirubi recalled that Mercy’s body had been found decomposed after remaining undiscovered for about a month, identifying the woman appearing in the video as her mother.
He explained that he had shared Nderitu’s phone number so that Kenyans could directly reach out and support her following the loss of her daughter.
“You all remember Mercy, whose body was found decomposed for one month. That is her. And never judge people because personally I do not judge, because I know whatever people are going through out here,” he said.
The MC also used the moment to caution Kenyans against judging people without understanding the circumstances they may be facing in their lives.
Kirubi said he does not judge others because he understands that people can be going through difficult situations that are not immediately visible to those around them.
“I see many people in the comments, and life can push you to the end until you decide it is over,” he said.
He further observed that some of the comments he had seen from social media users reflected how easily people can forget the struggles that others may be experiencing away from public view.
According to Kirubi, life can become so overwhelming that it pushes some people to their limits, with some eventually reaching a point where they feel that they can no longer continue.
He therefore urged people to approach situations involving other people with greater compassion instead of rushing to pass judgement.
