‘Men should provide’ — Kris Baby explains why she doesn’t believe in 50-50 relationships

Digital content creator Christine Irungu, widely known as Kris Baby, has shared her views on relationships, saying she does not believe in 50-50 arrangements and prefers men to take on the role of provider.

Speaking during an interview on Monday, June 8, 2026, Kris Baby said that while men should provide for their families, women should also have their own source of income and avoid becoming fully dependent on their partners.

The content creator said her understanding of love changed after becoming a mother.

According to Kris Baby, having a son gave her a deeper appreciation of what love means and remains one of the most meaningful experiences in her life.

“I have a son. That’s the purest form of love that you can ever experience,” she said.

She added that motherhood has shaped the way she views relationships and family.

Kris Baby also described parenting as demanding but rewarding, noting that she enjoys raising her child despite the responsibilities that come with the role.

“Being a parent is not easy, but it’s definitely manageable and so nice. I love it,” she said.

Men as providers

Asked whether she believes men should be the main providers in relationships, Kris Baby said she does.

She explained that she views provision as a responsibility traditionally associated with men but stressed that women should not abandon their own ambitions or financial goals.

“I believe in men being the providers, but I also believe in a woman having her own money and her own thing going on,” she said.

She went on to advise women to maintain financial independence, arguing that relying entirely on a partner can leave someone vulnerable if circumstances change.

Rejecting 50-50

Kris Baby was also asked about 50-50 relationships, a model where partners share financial responsibilities equally.

She said she does not subscribe to the idea, maintaining that men should shoulder the larger financial responsibility in a relationship.

“I don’t necessarily believe in 50-50,” she said.

At the same time, she acknowledged that every relationship is different and that couples should agree on an arrangement that works for them.

“It all depends on your agreement, or however things work for you guys,” she added.
