Marya Prude says she has healed amid backlash over Raburu breakup reaction
By William Muthama, June 18, 2026Influencer Marya Prude has addressed backlash, suggesting she has not healed following her social media posts after her ex Willis Raburu’s breakup with his girlfriend Ivy Namu
In an Instagram video on Thursday, June 18, 2026, Marya defended her earlier post, insisting that it was meant as light self-expression after receiving the news.
“I was just having fun… And my brain, in that situation, I didn’t have any other options,” she said, explaining her mindset at the time of posting.
Marya further clapped back at critics questioning her emotional state, stating that she is currently in a good place and has moved on from past experiences.
“I am happy now. I am healed… It was a life experience for me. And I can do whatever I want to do,” she said.
She emphasised that her online expression should not be controlled or interpreted as proof of unresolved emotions, insisting that people do not get to decide how she chooses to heal or express herself.

“You do not get to choose how I heal. You do not get to choose how I self-express. You do not get to choose how I stand up for myself,” she stated.
Marya also addressed those who interpreted her post as celebrating Willis Raburu’s breakup, questioning the criticism directed at her while reflecting on her own past struggles.
“Where was your compassion when my world was crumbling?” she asked. “It’s not even a celebration. I’m just vindicated.”
She went on to reflect on the depth of her emotional journey following her separation from Willis Raburu, revealing that she experienced a very difficult period that affected her mental wellbeing.
“It was bad… I was thinking I would be happier and at peace in heaven with my mama,” she said, describing a dark phase in her life, she noted.

Despite the challenges, she said she has since recovered and views the experience as part of her personal growth.
Marya also reflected on her tendency in the past to suppress her emotions, noting that she has since embraced more open self-expression as part of her healing process.
“Before, I never used to express myself because I never wanted to seem like someone who’s complaining… That’s my ego,” she said. “Once you do something to me, you’re dead to me. That’s the Virgo side of me,” she noted.
She encouraged people going through difficult moments to prioritise their mental health and allow themselves space to heal at their own pace.
