Rapper King Kaka has reflected on one of the darkest moments of his life, revealing that he reached a point where he accepted he was going to die during the mysterious illness that left him hospitalised in 2021.

Speaking during an interview on Monday, June 29, 2026, the musician described the health battle as one of several defining moments in his life, but said it stands out because it completely changed his perspective on success, family, and life itself.

Asked to name the one moment that transformed him, King Kaka said his near-death experience remains the closest example.

“The closest one is me dying,” he said.

Accepted his fate

The rapper recalled how his condition deteriorated to the point where he believed there was no hope of survival.

He said he decided to leave home for the hospital because he did not want to die in front of his family.

“It reached a point where I said, ‘It’s cool. I think this is it. I’m going to die.’ I accepted it and looked for a hospital because I didn’t want to die in the house,” he said.

King Kaka explained that, surprisingly, he felt a sense of peace after arriving at the hospital.

“When I got to the hospital, my soul relaxed because I was like, ‘Now I can go in peace.’ I guess God had other plans,” he added.

During the interview, he watched a video recorded while he was critically ill and admitted it reminded him just how fragile life can be.

Life lessons learned

Reflecting on the experience, King Kaka said the illness taught him that wealth, fame and success have little value when one’s health is failing.

“I had money, I was famous, but my body was failing. At that point, money, fame and success meant nothing,” he said.

He explained that he never thought about his celebrity status while lying in the hospital, saying he simply believed his time had come.

The rapper also revealed that many people who were hospitalised around the same time later reached out to him after he shared memories of his recovery online, telling him they had gone through similar experiences.

Changed perspective

Looking back, King Kaka said he has no regrets about the past because he believes every difficult experience carries an important lesson.

“Regret is trying to fix the past. You can never do it. Just take the lesson,” he said.

The rapper added that surviving the illness gave him a renewed appreciation for life, explaining that he now chooses happiness because he believes he was given another chance to live.
