Kelvin Kinuthia opens up about considering name change after ID struggles
Kelvin Kinuthia has opened up about possibly changing his name after facing difficulties while using his identification card.
In an interview with Oga Obinna on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, Kinuthia explained that certain situations have become complicated because some people do not immediately recognise him when checking his ID. He said the experience has made him think seriously about changing his name officially.

“I was thinking, because it is too hectic,” Kelvin Kinuthia said.
He explained that one particular incident made him reflect more on the issue. According to Kinuthia, he had accompanied his mother somewhere where they were required to present their identification cards. He said the situation became uncomfortable after questions were raised about his ID.
“Kuna mahali nilienda kupeana ID…We were with my mom, tukaenda somewhere, and we had to provide our IDs,” Kinuthia explained.
He added that his mother handed over the IDs before someone questioned him about his own document. Kinuthia said moments like that create confusion and make certain situations stressful. According to him, the reactions usually come from people who are meeting him for the first time.
“Mom alipeana IDs, and the guy was like ID yako iko wapi? It just brings complications,” he said.
Identity and public attention
Kinuthia further explained that while many people already know him, there are still others who become confused when they see his identification details. He said this is one of the reasons he has started considering a possible name change. According to him, he would prefer choosing something different and unique.
“Most of the people wanakujua. Kuna wenye sasa hawakujui, wanashangaa,” Kelvin Kinuthia said.
He also confirmed that changing his name is something he continues to think about. Kinuthia explained that he wants a name that stands out and better fits his public identity. However, he did not reveal whether he has already started the process officially.
“I am thinking about it, I want a unique name,” he said.
The latest remarks come months after Kinuthia spoke about possibly getting a Brazilian Butt Lift, also known as BBL, after reaching his fitness goals. At the time, he explained that he had already started losing weight and was thinking about how he wanted his body to look in the future.
“For me, I think that is something I will consider doing (BBL),” Kinuthia said.
He explained that weight loss can sometimes leave loose skin, which is why he would consider a cosmetic procedure later on.
