Kathy Kiuna shares painful reflection on marriage after husband’s death
By Steve Ireri, September 10, 2026Jubilee Christian Church (JCC) lead preacher Lady Bishop Kathy Kiuna has opened up about the pain of losing her husband, Bishop Allan Kiuna, revealing how deeply she continues to miss him.
In an Instagram post on Thursday, September 10, 2026, Kathy looked back at the years she spent with Allan, recalling how they remained anchored in their faith through difficult seasons and how their relationship was built around God.
“There was a time when all we had was this: us and God. When the tides were high, when the storms were raging, God never left, and so we remained guarded because He was our foundation for 30 years and then some,” she wrote.
She used the reflection to caution couples against building their marriages around fame, physical appearance, wealth and social media approval, arguing that such things can become unreliable foundations when circumstances change.
“We are in a generation where marriages are founded on fame, looks and wealth and social likes but no presence of God. And so when the lifestyle shifts, the people shift onto the next,” Lady Bishop Kathy wrote.
She further argued that God gives couples the capacity to navigate the pressures that can accompany fame and success, as well as the grace required to forgive one another and remain together through difficult seasons.
“Hear me, God is the only one who can give you capacity to handle fame and success, He is the only one who can give you grace to forgive your partner, He is the one who holds the marriage together and gives you grace for tough seasons,” she said.
Lady Bishop Kathy also cautioned couples against allowing material possessions and outward success to take the place of their relationship with God.
“Beauty, money, success are important to man, but do not allow them to replace God,” she wrote.
Her message then took a more personal turn as she asked couples to reflect on what they have allowed to occupy their hearts, invoking the biblical instruction to give one’s heart to God and observe His ways.
“Reflect today, what have we as a couple given our hearts to because God says, my son give ME your heart and observe MY ways,” she said.
Lady Bishop Kathy openly acknowledged the continuing pain of Allan’s absence, saying that she misses her husband terribly but has found comfort in the same God who sustained them during their marriage.
“I miss my husband terribly, but the same God that was with us is with me,” she wrote.
She described God as her anchor, protector and safe refuge as she continues to navigate life after Allan’s death, adding that His love had given her a source of comfort beyond the love she received from her husband.
“He has proven to me that His love for me is greater than how my husband could ever love me. He is my anchor, my protector, my safe refuge, my all in all,” Lady Bishop Kathy said.
Allan Kiuna’s death
Bishop Allan Kiuna died in July 2024 after a battle with cancer, bringing to an end a decades-long marriage and ministry partnership with Kathy. His death left behind his wife, their family, the JCC congregation and a wider community of believers who had followed his ministry.
Allan was laid to rest on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at JCC Paradise in Thindigua along Kiambu Road in Kiambu County following a funeral service attended by thousands of mourners.
The service brought together prominent local and international preachers, political leaders, family members and friends who gathered to honour the veteran preacher and remember his contribution to Kenya’s Pentecostal church landscape.
Among those who attended was then-Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi. Gachagua also delivered a tribute message on behalf of President William Ruto.
The funeral was described as a royal send-off for Allan, reflecting the stature he had attained during his years in ministry and the influence he wielded among believers and fellow church leaders.
Allan and Kathy had built their ministry together, with the couple co-founding Jubilee Christian Church in January 1999 before growing it into an international ministry with branches beyond Kenya.
