Juma Jux wins 2 AFRIMMA awards
By Valerian Khakayi, September 17, 2026Tanzanian singer Juma Jux has secured two awards at the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA), adding to his growing list of international music accolades.
Jux was recognised with the AFRIMMA Music Without Borders Award and the Best Collaboration award for his song Joy, a collaboration with fellow Tanzanian star Diamond Platnumz.
The 2026 AFRIMMA Awards were held on September 12 in Dallas, Texas, as the awards returned to the United States after a two-year break.
According to the official AFRIMMA winners list, Jux and Diamond emerged as winners in the Best Collaboration category, while Jux separately received the Music Without Borders Award.
Jux celebrates double win
Celebrating the achievement, Jux said he did not take the moment for granted while thanking the fans who supported his music.
“Honestly, I don’t take this moment for granted,” Jux said on Wednesday, September 17, 2026.
He dedicated the two awards to his supporters, including fans of his music and those who have supported his collaborations.
“To every AFB supporter, JP lover, and Jux fan who has been riding with me. THIS IS YOUR WIN TOO!” he said.
The singer went on to acknowledge the different ways his fans had contributed to his journey, highlighting votes, streams, social media posts and messages.
“Every vote. Every stream. Every post. Every message. Every time you played my music, shared my song, defended me, supported me and believed in me. YOU brought me here,” he added.
Jux also suggested that the recognition was only the beginning of what he hopes to achieve, saying, “And we’re just getting started.”
Jux announces US tour
Following his AFRIMMA success, Jux also announced plans for a United States tour scheduled for November 2026.
“🇺🇸 JUMA JUX U.S.A. TOUR — NOVEMBER 2026,” he announced.
He said the dates and cities for the tour would be revealed later before asking his American fans, “US 🇺🇸, are you ready?”
“Dates & cities coming soon…” he added.
What is AFRIMMA?
The African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) are an annual awards platform celebrating African music, entertainment and culture, bringing together artists and creatives from across the continent and the African diaspora.
The 2026 edition featured 41 awards recognising musicians, producers, DJs, dancers, entertainers and other creatives. The event also featured a music festival in Dallas, bringing together artists and audiences around African music and culture.
Jux’s two awards therefore recognise both his work with Diamond Platnumz on Joy and his broader contribution to African music that reaches audiences beyond national and geographical borders.
The double win comes after Jux has continued to expand his presence beyond Tanzania through collaborations and performances targeting audiences across Africa and internationally.
