Gospel singer Stella Mengele reveals family prepared for mother’s death before cancer miracle

Kamba gospel singer Stella Mengele has revealed that her family genuinely believed they were going to lose their mother before she eventually overcame cancer.

In an emotional Facebook post on Sunday July 19, 2026, the singer celebrated her mother’s recovery, describing it as a victory that came after two years of painful medical treatment, countless prayers and unwavering hope.

According to Stella, her mother was declared cancer-free earlier this year after enduring what she described as a long and difficult journey.

“My Mum Beat Cancer This Year! Yeees! After looong, horrible medical interventions and prayers. She is healed. Her hair is back!” Stella wrote.

The gospel singer admitted there were moments when she and her family feared the worst, saying they had prepared themselves for the possibility of losing their mother.

“Mum isn’t dying. We thought we’d lose her. This cancer thing is evil. It’s horrible,” she added.

Stella revealed that the emotional burden of caring for their mother had taken a huge toll on both her and her sister over the past two years.

Although she did not go into detail about everything they endured, she admitted it had been one of the hardest experiences of their lives.

“Guys… I can’t tell you what my sister and I have gone through for the last two years but… Eish… Mum is healthy now,” she wrote.

Despite joking that her mother might scold her for sharing the personal update publicly, Stella said she felt compelled to encourage other families currently walking a similar journey.

She urged people not to lose hope when a parent is battling a serious illness, expressing confidence that victory is possible.

“Atanichuna akiona hii but… hey… if your parent is going through a health situation… don’t worry… mtashinda,” Stella said.

The singer also encouraged Kenyans to register with the Social Health Authority (SHA), saying while it may not cover every medical expense, it offers much-needed support during treatment.

“Chukueni SHA… hailipi kila kitu but inasaidia,” she advised.

Stella further reminded people to care for their parents in the same way they would hope to be cared for by their own children in old age.

“Halafu mjitolee venye mnataka watoto wenu wajitolee mkizeeka. Mtashinda,” she added.

She concluded her message by paying tribute to her mother, describing her as a fighter who never gave up despite the painful battle with cancer.

“I am proud of you, Mum. You fought that thing like a warrior,” Stella wrote.
