Eric Omondi rallies support for mother of quintuplets who lost 4 babies
By Valerian Khakayi, September 15, 2026Comedian and philanthropist Eric Omondi has rallied support for Mercy Kanini, mother of quintuplets who has lost four of her babies, leaving her with one surviving child.
Omondi, on Tuesday evening, September 15, 2026, said he had spoken to Kanini’s mother and appealed to those responsible at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) to assist Kanini as she comes to terms with the loss of her four children.
The mother had made headlines after giving birth to five babies through normal delivery at Thika Level 5 Hospital, a rare occurrence that attracted public attention.
According to Omondi, the five babies comprised four girls and one boy. The mother has since lost all four girls and is now left with her son.
Eric Omondi seeks help for family
Additionally, Omondi said the mother was facing a difficult situation and needed support.
“Kuna ule mama alizaa watoto watano, that is very historic and legendary. Huyu mama amepoteza watoto wanne, alikuwa amezaa wasichana wanne na mvulana mmoja wasichana wote wamekufa amebaki na mvulana mmoja,” Omondi said.
He appealed to those in charge at KNH to intervene and make the situation easier for the grieving mother.
“Please help them, whoever is responsible at Kenyatta National Hospital,” he said, recalling that he had visited the hospital two weeks earlier and received a warm reception.
Omondi said he was currently away but was already making his way to the hospital to offer assistance.
“Saa hizi nko mbali kidogo but am on my way,” he added.
Calls for support
The comedian further asked whether it would be possible for the family to receive assistance with the hospital charges, given the emotional and financial burden they are facing.
“If possible, atamusiwacharge, you can imagine what that woman is going through having lost four kids possible,” he said.
Omondi described the mother as a “national treasure” and urged people to treat her with care and dignity following the devastating loss.
“That Woman is a NATIONAL TREASURE. We need to treat her as one. GOD BLESS,” he said.
He also appealed for support in helping the family transfer the four deceased babies to the mortuary and eventually give them a proper burial, while ensuring that the surviving boy receives the care he needs.
“Tuwasaidie vile tutapeleka hao watoto kwa motury, vile tutaenda kuwazika na tuwasaidie huyu mtoto mmoja tusimpoteze pia,” Omondi added.
