Dr Ofweneke tells ladies to be financially ready before going on any date

Comedian and media personality Bush Sande, widely known as Dr Ofweneke, has weighed in on a viral dating incident where a social media user claimed she was left with a huge bill after a date.
On Monday, June 8, 2026, he addressed the matter while reacting to a story that had been circulating online for the past 24 hours.
He explained that the situation involved a man and a woman who went out together, but the man left without paying the bill. The woman later complained online and shared details of what happened during the outing.
Dr Ofweneke said the man involved in the dispute should consider taking legal action if he felt wronged by the online claims. He also used the incident to highlight what he believes are misunderstandings in dating expectations today.

“Nimeona kuna story ambayo imeenda viral for the past 24 hours, na kuna mtu mmoja Fulani amecomplain kwa sababu alipelekwa out na jamaa Fulani, ameweka picha yake. Na mimi naambia huyo jama, sue that lady first of all. Mpeleke kortini,” he said.
“I have to tell the ladies, wisdom number one, unless you are officially dating and that man is your official boyfriend, and he knows that he is your boyfriend, please always carry your own money when you are going out on a date with a man. Unaniskia?” Dr Ofweneke added.
Dating responsibility message
Dr Ofweneke emphasised that people should avoid assumptions when going on dates with new partners. He explained that financial preparedness is important to avoid embarrassment or conflict in such situations.
He said some people go on dates without a clear understanding of expectations, which can lead to misunderstandings like the viral case being discussed online. According to him, clarity is important before any outing involving money.

The radio host maintained that individuals should be realistic when meeting people they are not officially dating. He warned that relying fully on another person without a clear agreement can lead to uncomfortable experiences.
“Wengine wenu are so interesting, huyu si boyfriend wako. Wengine mnaenda date kujiabisha,” he said.
Dr Ofweneke’s remarks have added to the ongoing conversation on how modern relationships are handled, especially when it comes to money and expectations during social outings.
