Comedian and Media personality Dr Ofweneke has advised men to always stay five steps ahead of their women, saying it is important for men to ensure they are ahead in life compared to their wives or girlfriends.

He shared his views while explaining why he believes men should avoid being on the same level as their partners on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

“As a man, always make sure you are 5 steps ahead of a woman. Narudia tena, as a man, always make sure that you are five steps ahead of a woman,” Dr Ofweneke said.

He explained that men should be careful and make sure they maintain an advantage in different areas of life. According to him, this is necessary because of the challenges men face as they try to succeed.

“Usiseme sija kuwarn. Alright?” Dr Ofweneke said.

He went on to stress his point, saying that men should remain several steps ahead of their wives or girlfriends. He warned that situations can become difficult when a man and his partner are at the same level.

“Nangoja kwanza I digest, wewe kama mwanaume hakikisha kwamba uko hatua tano mbele za mke ama girlfriend wako,” he said.

Staying ahead in life

Dr Ofweneke said he believes it is dangerous for a man when his woman is on the same level as him. He argued that women often have advantages that can help them move ahead faster than men.

“It is very dangerous for any man, when your woman is on the same level as you, it is dangerous,” he explained.

According to him, women can leave certain struggles behind more quickly than men because they have factors working in their favour. He said men often have to work harder to achieve the same goals.

“Ni rahisi sana mwanamke kutoka block before mwanaume. Unaniskia? Wanawake hutoka block mapema because there are a lot of things that favour women,” Dr Ofweneke said.

He further stated that men must fight their own battles and put in more effort to create opportunities for themselves. He noted that men are often required to prove their qualifications before some doors can open for them.

“Wewe mwanaume lazima upigane vita zako, damu jasho. Wewe mwanaume, you must prove your academic papers for some doors to open,” he said.

Dr Ofweneke concluded by comparing this to women, saying that some women can benefit from their appearance in ways that help them access opportunities.
