Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, fondly known as Riggy G, entertained his audience after revealing the simple terms supporters must follow if they want to host him during his political tours across the country.

Speaking on Monday, 20 July 2026, at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County, Gachagua shared that his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, officially gave him permission to spend nights away from home whenever political work demands it.

He was addressing local leaders during a consultative meeting following the Ol Kalou by-election.

“Mimi unajua Reverend Dorcas amenipatia ruhusa. Mimi sio lazima nilale hapa,” Gachagua told the laughing crowd.

He added that his wife fully understands his mission and spends her time praying for him while he travels.

“Anajua wherever I am, niko kazini ya kufukuza Kasongo,” he joked, drawing cheers and laughter from the audience.

Simple rules for hosting Riggy G

Gachagua explained that hosting him is very easy because he does not demand luxury. He described his car as a mobile wardrobe, saying he simply sleeps wherever nightfall catches up with him.

Gari yangu is like a wardrobe. Mimi nalala mahali giza imeingia,” he said.

He told potential hosts that if he arrives near their home around 6:30 pm, all he needs is a place to rest his head. He reassured supporters that he is not a troublesome guest and does not expect fancy breakfasts.

Mimi si mgeni msumbufu. Asubuhi mkate na chai, mimi nasonga,” Gachagua stated, adding that even without a shower, a simple basin of water is enough for him to wash up and keep moving.

He recalled a recent trip where a late meeting in Kipipiri kept him out until nightfall. As he tried driving back home, heavy darkness caught up with him around Nyahururu, forcing him to find a local room for the night, away from home.

Busy travel plan ahead

Looking ahead, Gachagua announced that he will be visiting several parts of the Mount Kenya region before travelling to the United States next month.

He plans to hold political meetings in Embu next week, followed by visits to Meru, Kiambu, and Nanyuki in Laikipia County to connect with grassroots supporters.

Gachagua instructed the Democratic Citizens Party (DCP) Secretary-General to handle the party’s daily administrative affairs, calling on regional leaders to take full charge of local political matters.

“Mambo ya Mlima nimewaachia nyinyi,” he concluded.
