Ciggie Johnson says women are the weaker gender, declares himself a male chauvinist
By Paulette Mboga, August 18, 2026Club host and content creator Ciggie Johnson has declared himself a male chauvinist, saying he believes men are ahead of women.
Johnson explained that his view is based on masculinity and how he believes men and women differ. He also said he does not believe in gender equality.
“I am a male chauvinist. Did I stutter? I believe man is ahead of women. If you look at it and how the world works, mwanamke ni kiumbe duni,” Ciggie Johnson said.
Johnson explained that by using the word “duni”, he was referring to women as a weaker gender. He said his statement was about masculinity and not intelligence. According to him, women can be equal to men when it comes to their ability to think.
“That is the statement; that means they are a weaker gender. Duni is the word that is used to say a weaker gender,” Ciggie Johnson said on Monday, August 17, 2026, while on an interview with Oga Obinna.

The content creator said he has met intelligent women and does not consider them inferior in terms of their thinking. He explained that his position is specifically about masculinity and how he views the differences between men and women. He maintained that this is where his belief in male chauvinism comes from.
“I have met wanawake wako na akili, so kwa akili wako sawa. But I am talking about masculinity; they are a weaker gender. I believe in non-gender equality,” Ciggie Johnson said.
Johnson defends his choice of words
Johnson further explained that his form of chauvinism is connected to masculinity. He said he uses the term to describe his belief that men are ahead of women in that area. His remarks came during a conversation with Oga Obinna, who questioned his decision to describe himself as a chauvinist.
“Chauvinism yangu ina fall kwa masculinity,” Ciggie Johnson said.
Oga Obinna challenged Johnson over the description he had used during their conversation. He told Johnson not to say that he was a chauvinist, prompting Johnson to question what other word he should use.
“Don’t say you are a chauvinist then,” Oga Obinna said.

“Kwani what is the word I am supposed to use?” Ciggie Johnson said.
The comments come after Johnson addressed backlash over remarks made during his appearance on Obinna’s show. His comments were widely interpreted by critics as describing dark-skinned women as ugly. Johnson denied making such a general statement and said his remarks had been taken out of context.
Speaking in a video shared on his Instagram page on Friday, July 31, 2026, Johnson said he rarely responds to criticism. He explained that he chose to speak after seeing what he described as misinformation surrounding the interview. Johnson said short clips from interviews can be changed to create a different meaning.
