Charlene Ruto shares stunning glimpse of her Koito ceremony look

The daughter of President William Ruto shared a video showing off the beautiful dress she chose for the special day. Charlene looked good in the long dress, which brought together green fabric and an African print for a stylish traditional look.
The upper part of Charlene’s dress was green, while the African fabric started from her waist and went down to the floor.
Her look was completed with her hair pulled back into a high bun, giving her an elegant appearance. She also wore jewellery on her hair, with the piece dangling on her forehead as she showed off her ceremony look.
Charlene steps out for her special day
Charlene’s Koito ceremony was held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in Kilgoris, Narok County. Pictures from the event have offered a first look inside the traditional engagement and farewell celebration, which brought together government officials, politicians, friends and other guests.
The occasion follows weeks of speculation after an invitation card bearing the names of President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto announced the special ceremony for their daughter. The invitation described the event as the Koito ak Chaik, a traditional engagement and farewell ceremony for Charlene Chelagat Ruto.
“We, the family of Dr William Samoei Ruto and Mrs Rachel Chebet Ruto, warmly invite you to the Koito ak Chaik (Engagement and Farewell) of their daughter Charlene Chelagat Ruto,” the invitation read.
Among those spotted arriving in Kilgoris were Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwour, popularly known as Jalang’o, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris and nominated Senator Karen Nyamu. The guests were dressed for the occasion as they joined the celebration.
Jalang’o also shared a glimpse of their arrival, posting a picture of himself alongside Sakaja, Passaris and Nyamu as they headed to the ceremony. The group appeared ready for the big day, with their outfits adding to the wedding mood.
“This is how we enter Kilgoris for Charlene’s wedding! We have a wedding!!” Jalang’o said.
With the ceremony now underway, Charlene’s dress has added another memorable detail to a day filled with traditional celebrations. Her green and African print look, high bun and forehead jewellery gave her a beautiful appearance as she marked the special occasion.
