Celebrities have bills too: Nicholas Kioko responds to fans who keep asking him for money

By , July 24, 2026

YouTuber Nicholas Kioko has appealed for understanding after revealing that many of his followers frequently ask him for financial help simply because he is a public figure.

Kioko addressed the issue through a series of Instagram Stories on Thursday, July 23, 2026, shortly after sharing screenshots of messages from followers requesting money.

While acknowledging that he understands why many people assume celebrities are wealthy, the content creator said the reality is often very different from what people see online.

Says fame does not always mean wealth

Explaining his position, Kioko noted that public figures face the same financial responsibilities as everyone else and should not automatically be viewed as people with unlimited resources.

According to him, social media often creates the impression that every celebrity is financially comfortable, yet many are quietly dealing with their own personal and financial obligations.

“What many people forget is that being a celebrity doesn’t automatically mean someone is rich. Celebrities have bills, responsibilities and financial challenges just like everyone else,” he wrote.

Kioko added that while some entertainers and content creators are doing well financially, others are working hard behind the scenes to maintain their careers and meet everyday expenses.

“Some are doing well, while others are struggling behind the scenes,” he added.

Urges followers to be more understanding

The Youtuber said he does not fault people for believing celebrities are wealthy, explaining that it is a common perception created by social media and public appearances.

However, he encouraged people to remember that every individual has challenges that may not be visible online.

“I don’t blame you for thinking otherwise because that’s the perception many people have. But it’s important to remember that everyone is fighting battles you may not know about,” he stated.

Kioko further urged his followers to approach public figures with empathy instead of assuming they are always in a position to help financially.

“A little understanding and kindness can go a long way,” he wrote.

Screenshots sparked conversation online

His remarks came after he shared screenshots showing several followers asking him to send them money, a move that quickly sparked conversation among his fans.

While some social media users sympathised with Kioko, saying public figures are often placed under pressure to solve other people’s financial problems, others argued that celebrities naturally attract such requests because of the lifestyles they share online.

The discussion also highlighted the expectations many people place on influencers and entertainers, with some pointing out that success on social media does not always reflect a person’s financial situation.

Kioko’s message serves as a reminder that behind the cameras and carefully curated online content, celebrities also juggle everyday responsibilities, personal commitments and financial obligations just like everyone else.
