Boniface Mwangi leads call for accountability over rising cases of missing children

By , June 1, 2026

Activist Boniface Mwangi has called for accountability over rising cases of missing children, saying the disappearance and murder of children should never be treated as just another news story.

His remarks came as people gathered to mourn victims, remember those lost, and call for justice on Monday, June 1, 2026.

Mwangi said the issue should remain a national concern and not be forgotten after public attention fades. He explained that families affected by such tragedies deserve support, answers, and action from those responsible.

“The disappearance and murder of children cannot become just another news cycle we move on from. We cannot normalise the loss of innocent lives,” Boniface Mwangi said.

He noted that the gathering was meant to honour victims and stand with families who continue to deal with grief. According to Mwangi, remembering those who have been lost is an important step in seeking justice.

“Today, we mourned. We remembered. We stood in solidarity with grieving families and demanded action, accountability, and justice,” Boniface Mwangi said.

The activist stressed the need for those in authority to take responsibility and address concerns raised by families. He explained that accountability remains important in ensuring that such cases receive the attention they deserve.

Calls for justice

“We owe the dead our remembrance. We owe the living our courage,” Boniface Mwangi said.

His latest remarks come days after he called for accountability following a tragedy at Utumishi Girls Academy. Mwangi raised the issue through an emotional video shared online on Friday, May 29, 2026.

In the video, he questioned why school tragedies continue to occur despite previous deadly incidents in the country. He referred to the 2024 Endarasha tragedy, where 21 boys lost their lives, and said lessons should already have been learned.

Mwangi explained that overcrowding in schools has become a serious concern. According to him, some dormitories are accommodating more students than they should, creating risks for learners.

He further claimed that some schools are being managed with profit in mind instead of placing the safety and welfare of students first. He argued that the well-being of learners should always remain a priority.

Mwangi maintained that action, accountability, and justice are necessary to address these issues and ensure that affected families are not left without answers.
