Blessed Etemesi recalls selling maize from Kitale trucks at Marikiti

Digital creator and comedian Blessed Etemesi, whose real name is Etemesi Ambunya, has recalled her days selling maize from trucks from Kitale at Marikiti.
Etemesi described herself as Mkulima mdogo and said the experience remains an important part of her journey. She opened up about the past after someone stopped her in town and reminded her of the days she used to sell maize.
“I genuinely wanted to share this journey because someone stopped me in town yesterday and told me they knew me when I used to sell maize, and it just hit me that, ohh my, I have evolved,” Etemesi said on Monday, August 10, 2026.
The comedian said the encounter made her think about how far she has come since those days. She explained that her journey has also become an example that can inspire someone else to believe they can become whatever they want. Etemesi said she has gone through different stages while trying to create a life for herself.
“That my journey has inspired someone to believe one day you can be whatever you want,” Etemesi said.
Etemesi reflects on her hustle
Etemesi said her journey has included trying different things, failing, starting again and learning along the way. She encouraged people not to feel pressured to have everything worked out before taking the first step. According to her, starting with what one already has can be enough to begin a journey.
“I’ve tried, failed, started again and learned along the way. You don’t need to have it all figured out. Just take the step and start with what you have,” Etemesi said.
Her memories of selling maize from Kitale at Marikiti are part of the hustle she says she has never been ashamed of. Etemesi explained that making money is not always about having the perfect idea. She said it can also mean being ready to begin again when things do not work out as planned.
“Don’t die in the winter. Your season is coming. Because sometimes making money isn’t about having the perfect idea. It’s about being willing to start again,” Etemesi said.
Etemesi also said she has done what she could to create a life for herself and continues to build. Her story from selling maize to becoming a digital creator and comedian has given her a chance to reflect on the different stages she has experienced. She said she remains proud of the work she has done along the way.
