Abbie Zuena showers Babu Owino with praise, calls him mentor and friend
By Valerian Khakayi, September 15, 2026Abigael Gikonyo, popularly known as Abbie Zuena, has showered Embakasi East MP Babu Owino with praise, describing him as her mentor and friend while opening up about their journey in the Linda Mwananchi movement.
Zuena, taking to her official X account, on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, thanked Babu for standing by her amid recent disagreements within the youthful political movement, saying he had walked the journey with her.
“Thank you very much, my mentor, friend and incoming Governor of Nairobi County, Babu Owino, for always standing with me. Yes indeed, you have walked this journey with me,” she said.
She acknowledged that disagreements and outspoken exchanges were part of the movement, particularly among its young members.
“The good thing with Linda Mwananchi is we are a youthful movement, and we will always disagree, and we are loud in how we express ourselves and deal with issues,” Zuena said.
The political activist also admitted that she had experienced moments of outburst during the journey, including on social media.
“I have personally had outbursts in this journey even here online. That’s the beauty of being young. We do not hide what we are feeling and we learn as we move,” she added.

Babu, in response, described Zuena as a great friend and revealed that he played a role in bringing her into Linda Mwananchi.
“Abbie Zuena is a great friend of mine. In fact, it is me who brought Abbie to Linda Mwananchi, it is me who introduced Abbie to Edwin Sifuna,” Babu said.
He acknowledged that misunderstandings could arise between friends but said such issues should be handled privately.
“She is my friend. There could be some misunderstandings, as it is normal, and if there is any issue, I will call her and it will be solved privately,” he added.

Zuena also said she was pleased that members of Linda Mwananchi were now having conversations about the movement’s political direction.
She said the group needed clarity on whether it would operate as a political party or work under a coalition, adding that members would support and align with the eventual direction as a team.
Her remarks come as the relationship between prominent figures in Linda Mwananchi continues to attract public attention, with Babu and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna among the movement’s most visible figures.
