ODM’s Catherine Omanyo responds after Oburu’s ‘hatuna DJ’ complaints

Busia Woman Representative Catherine Omanyo has sought to calm the storm generated by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Oburu Odinga’s complaints during a recent Linda Ground rally in Siaya, when he questioned whether the outfit has an official DJ.

In a brief statement shared on her Facebook account, Omanyo, who was picked by the party’s National Executive Committee to serve as the Secretary General before the move was halted by the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal, asserted that the outfit has a DJ.

She went ahead and shared photos showing the DJ wearing a reflector branded in party slogans and colours in what appears to be an ODM rally with the

Tuko na Dj (We have a DJ),” Omanyo stated on Wednesday, February 26, 2026.

Oburu’s complaints

The Linda Ground rallies headlined by the ODM faction led by Oburu have been lacking life, with the outfit also appearing to be struggling to attract the huge crowds that the party was known for during the lifetime of its departed founder, Raila Odinga.

The Siaya Senator was caught in an awkward situation during a rally in Siaya on Saturday, February 21, 2026, and had to repeatedly question whether the event had a DJ.

Oburu had to ask if there was a DJ at the rally as he took to the stage with no song to fire up ODM supporters at Ahindi Grounds in Siaya.

The crowd could be seen staring with little excitement as the party leader took to the stage amid silence, leaving the Siaya Senator questioning what was wrong.

DJ hakuna? Hatuna DJ (Don’t we have a DJ?” Oburu asked on the microphone after reading the mood and failing to see the excitement in the crowd while he was on stage.

It is only after this that the DJ played a song, but by this time, the moment had already been lost, and it failed to fire up the crowd and result in the desired celebratory effect on the people welcoming their leader and looking forward to his address.

DJ Spider shines

In contrast, the Linda Mwananchi rallies have been livelier, with a celebratory mood filling the air of bold resistance every time the outfit holds an event.

With veteran DJ Spider on the deck, music that captures the moment meets politics with fiery political speeches laced with entertainment that fires up the crowds throughout.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has since confirmed that DJ Spider has been targeted with lucrative deals by rival political formations.

“DJ Spider yeye mwenyewe alisema anaona pahali spirit ya Baba iko. Wameanza kutafuta DJ Spider wetu na wanataka kumpatia bonge la offer,” Sifuna explained, adding that the decision is up to the DJ to make and insisting that they will not block him from pursuing greener pastures.
