Cassypool calls on Bobi Wine to apologise to Museveni after election defeat
By Steve Ireri, January 19, 2026Political commentator Cassypool has urged opposition leader Bobi Wine to seek forgiveness from President Yoweri Museveni following his defeat in Uganda’s recent general election.
Speaking during an interview with a local Youtuber on Monday, January 19, 2025, Cassypool said that if he were to meet Bobi Wine, he would remind him of his journey as an artiste and acknowledge that he remains one of Africa’s biggest musicians.
“If I met Bobi Wine today, I would remind him of when he was at his peak and why he remains one of Africa’s biggest musicians,” he said.
He argued that Wine’s political campaigns had also elevated his financial standing, claiming that the opportunity to campaign freely under Museveni’s leadership had enabled him to make money and become wealthy.
“I would tell him that through the campaign he ran, he has also made money, all thanks to President Yoweri Museveni. The president gave him opportunities to succeed, and now he is very wealthy,” he shared.
Cassypool, who described Bobi Wine as his age-mate, said the opposition leader has already achieved significant success in life and should now consider submitting himself under Museveni’s authority.
He suggested that Wine should approach the president humbly, admit his mistakes during the heated campaign period, and ask for forgiveness as a younger person seeking guidance from an elder.
“Because Bobi Wine is my age mate, I would tell him that he has achieved so much and should now submit under the authority of President Museveni. I would advise him to go and ask for forgiveness, to acknowledge any mistakes he made during the campaign, and to say, ‘Father, I called you names during the campaign, I made mistakes as a young person, and I seek your forgiveness. Please allow me back. Let me be under your authority; mentor me and guide me,” he said.

He further advised Wine to also reconcile with Muhoozi Kainerugaba, saying the two should view each other as brothers and work together for the future of the country.
Cassypool went on to claim that Muhoozi, whom he described as Uganda’s next president once Museveni retires, could play a key role in Bobi Wine’s political future.
He even suggested that Wine should seek an opportunity to serve in a senior leadership position, such as prime minister, in a future administration in order to help steer the country forward.
“After that, I would tell Bobi Wine to go to General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, remind him that they are brothers, and ask for opportunities, knowing that Muhoozi is the next president of Uganda. Once President Museveni retires and Muhoozi assumes leadership, I would also suggest that Bobi Wine appoint me as his prime minister so that together we can lead the country forward,” he said.
The commentator added that if Bobi Wine lacked direct access to Museveni or Muhoozi, he would personally facilitate the meeting.
Cassypool said he was willing to accompany Wine to both leaders and ask for forgiveness on his behalf, even stating that he would kneel down as a sign of humility to help reconcile the parties.
“That is what I would tell Bobi Wine, and if he has no direct way to reach President Museveni, he can call me. I will personally take him to both Museveni and Muhoozi and ask for forgiveness on his behalf, even kneeling if necessary,” he said.
Cassypool’s remarks come in the wake of official election results that saw President Museveni declared the winner of Thursday’s poll, extending his rule by another five years.
According to the electoral commission, Museveni secured 72 per cent of the vote, while Bobi Wine finished second with 25 per cent.
Bobi Wine has since rejected the outcome, dismissing the results as fraudulent and calling on Ugandans to engage in non-violent protests.
Museveni, now 81, first took power in 1986 as a rebel leader and has gone on to win seven elections.
