Bridget Blue: The underrated Kenyan voice making waves in R&B, Soul music

Singer Bridget Blue is quickly becoming one of Kenya’s most exciting R&B and soul musicians. Known for her emotive vocals, introspective lyrics, and soulful melodies, she blends contemporary R&B with Afro-pop influences, creating a sound that feels both personal and universally relatable.

Despite being considered underrated in the mainstream Kenyan music scene, Bridget has steadily built a loyal fanbase across East Africa and beyond, earning recognition as one of the region’s standout female voices.

Born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya, Bridget began her musical journey at just 18, uploading covers on Instagram.

Alongside music, she worked professionally as a makeup artist, balancing her creative passions while honing her vocal style.

In 2021, she signed with Kaka Empire, the label owned by rapper King Kaka, before later moving to DigitOne Music Group, where she continued developing her artistry.

Her stage name, “Blue,” reflects the calm, deep, and slightly melancholic tone that characterises much of her music.

Music highlights and collaborations

Her debut album, Colours (2022), showcased her range across eight tracks, moving seamlessly between soulful ballads and upbeat Afro-pop grooves.

Fans connected immediately with songs like “I Choose You” (feat. Bien), “Kesho,” “Mbuzi,” and “Nairobi Streets”, which highlight her heartfelt lyrics and smooth melodies.

Collaborations with artists such as Khaligraph Jones, Bien, Toxic Lyrikali, and Nigerian singer Kotrell have further cemented her versatility and appeal.
