Veteran humanrights activist and presidential aspirant Boniface Mwangi has opened up about a part of his family story that many Kenyans may not know about.

Speaking during a candid conversation with the Iko Nini podcast in an episode aired on Thursday, January 29, 2026, Mwangi disclosed that he has an elder brother in Tanzania whom he has never met after the brother relocated to the neighbouring country.

He went on to explain that the brother, named Bernard Waroi, was taken to Tanzania after a fallout involving his mother and Waroi’s father, who was Tanzanian of Chaga descent.

Mwangi said he has never met this brother, who would now be around 45 or 46 years old.
