Bolo Bespoke claps back at Kenyans who label wealthy people devil worshippers

Fashion designer Bolo Bespoke has pushed back against a growing culture in Kenya where displays of wealth are quickly met with accusations of devil worship or involvement in wash-wash schemes.

Speaking in a TikTok video on Saturday, December 13, 2025, after his close friend, businessman Austine Waziri, acquired a high-end Toyota Land Cruiser V8, Bolo criticised such thinking, saying it stems from a mindset rooted in bitterness and jealousy.

“You remain stuck in a mindset where you label wealthy people as those involved in wash wash or as devil worshippers. That way of thinking is simply driven by bitterness and jealousy,” Bolo wrote.

His remarks came as he publicly congratulated Waziri on the purchase of the luxury vehicle, which he described as a milestone reflecting how far they had come together.

Bolo acknowledged the size and power of the vehicle jokingly, saying his friend may have gone a bit big with the purchase, but added that he admired it and was genuinely happy for him.

“Congratulations, big man. You know how far we have come. I feel like you may have exaggerated a bit by buying such a big machine, but I like it, and I am happy to see it. Congratulations. This is how Arabian men roll now,” he said in the clip.

Bolo revealed that the V8, a 2023 model, was officially received in Mombasa, where friends gathered to mark the occasion and also celebrate Waziri’s birthday.

He framed the moment as both a personal and spiritual milestone, emphasising gratitude, prayer, and belief in God as central to their journey.

“I am truly challenged and inspired by this move. This is the newest V8, a 2023 model. We had to come to Mombasa to officially welcome this new car on his birthday. Congratulations once again,” Bolo said.

In his message to Waziri, Bolo spoke about mutual support, saying he had prayed for his friend’s success and was now asking for those prayers to be returned.

He described the purchase as motivating and challenging, expressing hope that he, too, would one day reach similar milestones.

“You know how far you have come, and we continue believing in God. I want you to pray for me the same way I have been praying for you. I prayed, and you have now purchased a luxury car, so pray for me too. Inshallah,” he added.
