Bahati’s Ksh1M Harambee Stars promise and viral dramas that rocked Kenya in 2025

By , December 7, 2025

Multitalented musician Kevin Kioko, widely known as Bahati, has mastered the art of publicly stunning and clout chasing. Whether through bold promises, headline-grabbing statements, or unexpected social media antics, the singer knows how to keep himself in the spotlight.

The singer who doubles as a digital content creator is among the most talked-about celebrities in Kenya.

Here are some of the moments Bahati has trended, not for his music.

Parents

Currently, Bahati is trending after two different people, a man and a woman, claimed to be his parents, sparking a heated debate online. The claims have left fans divided, with some questioning his past family narratives while others think the singer is chasing clout as usual.

  • Bahati’s father

In the emotional clip, the man said he took Bahati to a children’s home because he did not have the means to raise him. He explained that he and Bahati’s mother struggled financially and feared that the child would not survive under their care.

“Bahati, I am asking for your forgiveness. I am your father, and since I saw that I was not capable of raising you, I decided to take you to a children’s home. I knew it would be good for you because if I threw you away, you probably would not be alive,” he said.

He added that Bahati’s mother was also alive and had appeared on social media looking for him.

“Your mum is also still alive, and you will see her on social media looking for you. I am your father, and I am sixty-nine years old. Even if it is a DNA test, we will do it. I am asking for your forgiveness. I stay in Western,” he said.

  • Bahati’s mother

In an interview with a local blogger that has since gone viral, a woman claiming to be Bahati’s mother said that she took him to a children’s home because she could not afford to raise him and believed he would have a better life under care.

Bahati, mimi ni mama yako, nakuja mbele yako kukuomba msamaha, although uliambiwa mama yako alikufa. Mimi nilikuzaa na nikakupeleka children’s home. Sikuwa na uwezo, ndo maana nikakupeleka children’s home,” she said.

However, Bahati denied knowing them and urged them to stop the drama and allow his biological parents to rest.

“Lakini wacheni jokes. Wacheni wazazi wangu wa pumzike kwa amani,” he wrote on his official Instagram account.

Harambee Stars’ promise

Earlier during the Africa Nations Championships (CHAN ) 2024 tournament, Bahati made headlines when he promised Ksh 1 million to the Harambee Stars if they won a major football match against Morocco.

The bold pledge captivated sports fans and netizens alike; however, after they won, he failed to keep his promise, further cementing his status as one of Kenya’s most talked-about celebrities.

Flaunting wads of cash

On Thursday, August 28, 2025, Bahati, in a video shared on his official Instagram account, while attempting to explain why he failed to honour the promise he made to the Harambee Stars player after defeating Morocco and addressing claims of not being able to raise the money, flaunted a huge sum of cash online.

The singer, in the company of fellow musician DK Kwenye Beat, expressed frustration while holding wads of money, claiming there were attempts to sabotage the process and turn it into unnecessary drama.

“Kuna watu wana sabotage hii process ya mimi kupea Harambee Stars hii one million. Ndio ikue maneno mingi maneno mingi,” he said.

He further insisted that Ksh1 million was not a significant amount for him, describing it as something that should not cause such noise on social media.

“Hii ni one million, two million, 3 million. One million is too small for me. Hiyo si pesa tunasumbuana nayo kila saa online. Hii ni kitu kidogo. Avoid the people who think one million is a lot of money. That is a poor mindset,” Bahati stated firmly.

A day later, the father of five again shared a video where he handed Diana the hefty bundle, telling her to go out and enjoy herself.

“I have a million for you here just to enjoy Friday, na hii soo mbili, najua all your exes are suffering. Because they are my enemies. Tafuta ule hakua mbaya sana and give them some money,” Bahati quipped.

Wearing a red thong

In an Instagram post, the singer shared a behind-the-scenes clip showing him getting ready for the empowerment programme.

While picking his clothes for the occasion, he is seen wearing ladies’ undies, which he said would not make him sweat a lot.

“To Be Del€ted… Get Ready with Me as I Prepare to perform at State House,” he shared.

Washing Diana’s feet with wine

After the thong drama that made him trend, Bahati shared another video showing him pouring wine on his wife Diana Marua’s feet while relaxing at home and went ahead and drinking it.

He captioned the video, “Sipping Some Wine as I go through your comments and advice on my previous video. Naona mnatamani maisha yangu na Diana_Marua.”

2025 has been full of similar viral moments for Bahati, with each drama seeming to be strategically timed to dominate news cycles, ensuring that he remains relevant in an era where attention is currency.

Love him or hate him, Bahati has proven that he knows the formula for staying relevant in the public eye.
