Singer Bahati has said he will meet face-to-face with a woman claiming to be his biological mother.

In an Instagram post on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, he confirmed that he had spoken to her and planned to meet her on Friday.

“There is an issue that went viral, and I didn’t want to jump or rush to address it,” Bahati said.

He noted that some people thought it was a publicity stunt.

“But to me, it caught me by surprise. I tried to ignore it,” he added.

Bahati revealed that the woman had been contacting him frequently.

“For the last three days she has been in my inboxes, and all that and today I got her number. And I said wacha nimsikilize,” he said.

He explained that he finally decided to listen to her side of the story.

Meeting set for Friday

“Finally, I talked to her today. I will meet her face to face on Friday,” Bahati confirmed.

However, he admitted that there are details that do not add up for him.

“Mahali hii hesabu haiingiani ni yeye ni mluya mimi ni mkamba,” he said.

The confusion began after a viral TikTok video surfaced showing a woman claiming to be his mother and asking for forgiveness. Shortly after watching the clip, Bahati expressed shock. He explained that he personally attended his mother’s burial more than twenty-five years ago.

“But my mum died over twenty-five years ago. I personally attended the burial and witnessed her grave. This woman has confused me more. So what should I do?” he wrote. The claim forced him to revisit painful childhood memories he believed were settled.

Last year, Bahati said the situation left his children confused and unsettled. In a post shared on December 2, 2025, he said he had to cut short what he was doing and rush back to Nairobi to be with them.

“Imebidi nirudi Nairobi… My kids are even more confused… Could my mother be alive?” he wrote.

He said his children have grown up knowing the story he has always believed about his past. As he prepares to meet the woman on Friday, Bahati says he hopes the face-to-face conversation will help bring clarity to the matter.
