Arnold Malcom explains harsh realities facing men – ‘Nobody owes you a second chance’

In a post shared on Monday, August 31, 2026, Malcom reflected on how society often acknowledges that men can struggle mentally but continues to expect them to meet their responsibilities regardless of what they are going through.
His remarks touched on depression, financial pressure, expectations and the reality that sympathy does not necessarily remove the responsibilities that come with adulthood.
The world will continue
Malcom argued that while people may sympathise with someone going through a difficult period, life continues moving regardless of their circumstances.
“The world will never stop ati kwa sababu kuna mental health,” he said, stressing that people will continue facing their own struggles and responsibilities.
He further noted that society can sympathise with a man’s potential while still expecting him to produce results.

According to him, people may discuss someone’s struggles, but they will eventually return to their own lives.
“Watu watakuwa wana-expect results,” he added, while pointing out that the people around someone may also be dealing with their own challenges.
Your excuses will never pay your bills
Malcom also spoke about the uncomfortable reality of financial responsibilities, arguing that understanding a person’s struggles does not make bills disappear.
“Ona, nakwambia tu hivi, excuses zako pia, they are valid, valid. Lakini wewe jua ifika time you pay bills, hakuna importance ya your excuses,” he said.
He went on to deliver one of his strongest points: “Your excuses will never pay your bills.”
The statement reflects the tension many men experience between acknowledging their mental and emotional struggles and still having to provide for themselves or others.

Malcom also urged men to recognise the importance of making use of opportunities when they arise.
“Nobody owes you a second chance. Nobody owes you a second chance,” he said.
He appeared to emphasise personal responsibility, noting that opportunities can help someone discover their usefulness and value.
His message ultimately centred on the harsh expectations attached to manhood, while acknowledging that mental-health struggles are real. For Malcom, recognising those struggles does not mean responsibilities disappear, making it important for men to find ways of navigating both their wellbeing and the demands placed on them.
