Akuku Danger reveals how his polygamist grandfather handled cheating wives
Kenyan comedian and entertainer Mannerson Oduor Ochieng, widely known as Akuku Danger, has shared rare details about the discipline and structure in his famous grandfather’s large polygamous family, offering a glimpse into how he handled cases of infidelity.
Speaking about the late Akuku Danger, the comedian, in a candid conversation with media personality Chris the Bass, aired on Monday, May 11, 2026, said the family patriarch, who had 266 wives, maintained order through strict public decisions when issues of cheating arose.
“My grandfather, the late Akuku Danger, had 266 wives; hao ndio wenye tulikuwa tumejua. All his wives lived together happily,” Akuku Danger said.
Akuku explained that despite the huge family, there was a system that ensured discipline and accountability among the wives.

According to him, the decision was always made openly in front of elders to avoid confusion or disputes within the large family.
“One of the things alikuwa akisema, akingeshika bibi mmoja akicheat, what he used to do was organise a gathering at the marketplace, and he would disown her officially, publicly, angeambia wazee,’ from today so-and-so is no longer my wife’,” he explained.
Akuku noted that this public declaration helped maintain order in a household that had hundreds of members.
Late Akuku Danger’s wives
He further revealed that not all of the 266 wives remained in the family until the end, as some left while others passed away.
“Out of the 266, kuna wenye walienda after his death, he died in 2010, na kuna wenye walikufa,” he added.

Akuku on polygamous marriage
The comedian further revealed that he believes polygamous marriage works because he was exposed to both polygamy and monogamy while growing up.
Akuku said he grew up seeing polygamy work successfully within his grandfather’s large family setup.
“Polygamy works. I come from a polygamous family; the late Akuku Danger was my grandfather; he died in 2010,” Akuku revealed.
The comedian explained that while his own father married only one wife, his grandfather had a huge polygamous family where the wives lived together peacefully.
“I saw polygamy work, and I saw monogamy work because my father married only one wife, but on my grandfather’s side, I saw it work.”
He revealed that the famous polygamist was actually his mother’s father and had an extremely large family.
“He was my mother’s father,” he said.
