Police recover stolen motorcycles after Murang’a operation
By William Muthama, October 11, 2025Police in Murang’a County have successfully recovered several stolen motorcycles and parts following a coordinated operation in Ithanga and Kakuzi.
In a statement on Saturday, 11 October 2025, the National Police Service (NPS) said a person of interest was arrested on 10th October 2025 during a joint operation by officers from Ithanga Police Station and the Rubiru Police Post.

The statement added that the arrest followed days of intensive searches, investigations, and intelligence gathering.
“The arrest is the result of dedicated and coordinated efforts by our officers to ensure the safety of property and restore public confidence,” the NPS said.
The operation comes after a surge in motorcycle thefts that had left many commuters and boda boda operators concerned about their safety and property.
Upon interrogation, the person of interest led officers to a location where a dismantled motorcycle and several parts were recovered.

Further searches of his residences revealed additional suspected stolen items, including electronics and more motorcycle components. The items have been seized for verification, and police are working to trace their original owners.
“The diligence of our officers has led to the successful recovery of the stolen property. This operation highlights the importance of teamwork and persistence in fighting crime,” the NPS added, commending the officers for their swift action.
The NPS urged residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities. Citizens are encouraged to use the toll-free hotlines or report anonymously.
