Police nab 4 men linked to theft of lentils in Embakasi

The police under the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) unit have apprehended at least four men in Embakasi linked to a theft of lentils (Kamande) in Embakasi.

According to a statement by the DCI on Sunday, August 31, 2025, the DCI revealed that the four persons of interest were caught in the act.

Likewise, the DCI have noted that the four were apprehended following a joint operation between law enforcement officers from Embakasi Sub-county and vigilant members of the public.

The DCI has also revealed that the four were caught breaking in at daylight at the Rama Homes godowns situated in Embakasi.

“A joint operation by law enforcement officers drawn from Embakasi Sub-county, working closely with members of the public, has led to the arrest of four suspects involved in a break-in at the Rama Homes godowns earlier today,” DCI wrote.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), officers acted swiftly on a tip-off and intercepted the suspects mid-operation as they loaded bags of lentils onto a lorry.

Police have further revealed that at the time of the incident, the four were ready for a takeoff.

“Acting on a tip-off, the officers caught the suspects, Patrick Mwangi Njue, Patrick Kariuki Karobia, Emmanuel Masika Bichi, and Thomas Mucho Sikulova, in the middle of loading bags of lentils onto a lorry, registration number KAS 148Q,” DCI said.

Crime scene officers documented the location and secured key pieces of evidence. The four are currently in custody and will be arraigned in court once processing is complete.

“The scene was documented, and key evidence secured, while the suspects have since been taken into custody and processed pending arraignment,” DCI noted.

Isiolo theft case

The Embakasi incident closely follows a recent one in Isiolo, where police arrested two persons of interest and recovered 41 stolen animals in an operation carried out in the Bonji Dam area, Isiolo County.

In a statement shared by the National Police Service (NPS) on Sunday, August 31, 2025, officers stated that the recovery followed a report made at the Basa Police Post concerning livestock theft, which was reported a day earlier.

“Following a report made at Basa Police Post concerning livestock stolen from the Bonji Dam area on 30th August 2025, a multi-agency security team promptly responded to the incident. On Sunday, 31st August 2025, the security team successfully recovered forty-one animals, comprising 16 sheep and 25 goats, and arrested two male suspects in connection with the theft,” NPS said.

The police confirmed that the individuals are currently in custody, awaiting arraignment in court. At the same time, the recovered animals are being held at the Basa Police Post before being handed back to the rightful owner.
