Police hunt person of interest after Kikuyu theft bust
By Aloys Michael, August 7, 2025Police in Kikuyu Sub-County are pursuing a person of interest following the recovery of a wide array of suspected stolen electronic devices and other items.
In a statement on the X account on Thursday, August 7, 2025, police said the items were found in a one-bedroom house at Havila Plus Apartments.
“Among the seized items were 66 assorted iPhones, two Samsung Fold phones, one Motorola Fold phone, an HP laptop, an Apple iPad, an Apple desktop computer, a 4-in-1 universal rotary fixture, a CP Log separating tool with a glass heating platform, and a drone with its controller,” the statement read.
Also recovered were six vehicle ignition keys, a motor vehicle logbook, a JCID VISE JC programmer main unit, an AC adapter, several other electronic repair tools and accessories.
“A motor vehicle found to contain more suspected stolen mobile phones was towed to the police station for further inspection,” the police said.
“All recovered items were duly documented and secured at the station. The house was locked and sealed pending further investigation as efforts to trace the suspect and establish the source of the items continue.”

Theft cases
The incident happened a day after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) had nabbed key persons of interest following a phone theft operation within the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD).
According to a report by DCI on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, the agency revealed that officers from Central Police Station apprehended a key person of interest who has been identified as Victor Kimani.
Following the report, Kimani was apprehended in an intelligence-led operation, further adding that Kimani is linked to a notorious phone theft syndicate operating within Nairobi CBD and its environs.
“In an intelligence-led operation, officers from the Central Police Station have arrested Victor Kimani, a key suspect linked to a notorious phone theft syndicate operating within Nairobi’s Central Business District and its surrounding areas,” DCI revealed.
Similarly, the DCI has revealed that at the time of his apprehension, Kimani was caught tampering with the IMEI of the stolen phones in what the authority says was an attempt to conceal the phones’ identity.
