Police apprehend suspected drug peddler in Murang’a, recover 20 rolls of bhang

A suspected drug peddler in Murang’a County has found himself in a tight spot after police officers apprehended him during a routine foot patrol.

According to a statement by the National Police Service (NPS) on Friday, November 14, 2025, the operation that led to his arrest was part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on drug-related activities in the region.

During the patrol on Thursday, November 13, officers stopped a person of interest in the Kabati area.

A thorough search led to the recovery of 20 rolls of cannabis sativa, locally known as bhang.

The consignment was seized as evidence, and the individual was escorted to Kabati Police Station.

The NPS statement reads in parts, “A search of the person of interest led to the recovery of 20 rolls of cannabis sativa, which were seized as evidence.

“The person of interest was escorted to Kabati Police Station, where he was booked and is now awaiting processing and arraignment in court.”

The apprehension comes amid intensified police patrols and intelligence-led operations across Murang’a County.

Officers have been on high alert, focusing on areas reported to be hotspots for drug trafficking and substance abuse.
