“A team of law enforcement officers from Nakuru North Sub-County have rescued a Pakistani national from an irate mob baying for his blood after he allegedly swindled members of the public out of their hard-earned money through false pretences,” the DCI said on Sunday, September 7, 2025.
The dramatic rescue came after concerned members of the public alerted authorities when they spotted him being surrounded by an angry crowd demanding justice. Police quickly intervened and pulled the person of interest to safety before the situation escalated.
“Quick intervention by police officers saved him from a mob attack,” the DCI noted.

The person of interest was not acting alone. According to preliminary investigations, he was working with two accomplices who managed to escape during the confrontation. The DCI confirmed that the trio is believed to be behind multiple fraud cases reported in the area.
“It was also established that he was out on bond from Ahero Police Station, where he had previously been charged with obtaining money by false pretences,” read part of the statement.
“He had been ordered to report back to the station on August 20, 2025, but instead continued with his fraudulent activities.”
The person of interest is currently in police custody, undergoing processing. Detectives are actively pursuing his accomplices, who remain at large.
The DCI has urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activities to authorities.
“Detectives are intensifying the search for his accomplices,” the statement read.
